More than meets the eye

Tim and I are watching the Transformers movie. That's right. The MOVIE. He just sang along to one of the soundtrack songs. It almost made him cry. Me too, for different reasons of course. My husband is a child.

My new phone

Here is my new phone. I was thinking about upgrading soon anyway, but then I got a thing in the mail saying since I'm such a loyal customer I could get a new phone for 15 bucks after rebate. Of course they think that I won't bother with rebates, but I always do and I always get my money back. Anyway, I bought a bluetooth headseat as well because I am always on the phone. Plus, now B and I can be bluetooth buddies and walk around in public places like fools =)

Beyond that, Tim and I ran errands today. We went to Target, got his hair cut, got booze from BevMo, new phone and then I went and got my nails and eyebrows done. I am sitting here with an ice pack on my brows as we speak in hope that the redness will go down soon. Ah the joys of being a whitey.

we have a new air con!

Tim and I have a new air conditioner. It only took about 3 months of phone calls, but we now have a great new air con. It has a remote! We are having our carpets cleaned in September has well. The apartment is going to be nice and clean and updated for the people that move in after we leave. =)

Tonight's Netflix includes The Man, Flight Plan and V for Vendetta. My online system for work is messed up right now, so it's going to be a long evening. However, nothing better than some good grub, movies and time to do work. =)

At least I got the timing right today

Today my pals and I went to Great America to celebrate Bianca's birthday. At least I showed up on the right day. Those of you who read my last blog entry will realize that I thought we were going on Saturday. Ha Ha. Oh well. It was one of those "moments". =)

Tim and I just watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. What a great movie. I highly recommend that you all put it in your queue. A little action, comedy and Robert Downey Jr. Yum. Now we are watching Firewall. Harrison Ford is about to go apeshit I think. He just beat somebody down with a blender. He's rough like that (although looking slightly old). Oh yeah...he's super rough.

My nap today was only for about 10 minutes, unfortch. I fell asleep at the beginning of Firewall but then Tim touched my leg and I woke up. I'll have to go to bed soon to make up for my napping time I missed today. ZZZZZZZZ =)

Kona Krunch

I enjoy macadamia nuts as much as the next person. However, when you cover them with chocolate and rice krispy treats and bring them back from Hawaii, I think they just taste better. One of the girls that I work with at my work comp job just got back from vacay and brought the tasty nuts back with her. I've had about 5 already tonight. They are so damn good. Plus, nuts have good fats in them, right? =)

Tim is currently pleased as his is killing the undead. (He loathes the undead) However, the game is being cheap and he almost had a "Lost" type breakdown. No controllers have been thrown at the screen yet.....yet. He is still working out the bugs, so to speak.

I received my super size Glamour in the mail today and I can't wait to get cracking at it. I must get in the bath with my Kona Krunch and glass of milk and read. Tim thinks it's weird that I eat in the bath. But I say, why not eat in the bath. If you spill, it all goes down the drain. Plus, I have lovely bath gels to play with as well that make the experience all the more fun. My dad just stayed at the Peadbody hotel in Florida where they have ducks that live in the lobby and walk around freely (Somebody must have the job title, duck shit cleaner upper, as ducks shit a lot!) and he brought me back about 5 little duck soaps and 5 bottles of duckie bath gel. I'm looking forward to using it tonight. It's time for "a good do" I think, as we say in England. That means a good wash and scrub and moisturize etc...everyone deserves a good do every now and then. =)

In conclusion, I would just like to say that I'm glad Wednesday is over. Last week was a little too exhausting for me and my back has been playing up today. It's amazing how many Chiros have to quit the biz early due to back injury. However, I did get adjusted right before I left for the evening so maybe a nice warm bath will finish me of. I do have some more work to do, but I always feel more refreshed after my bath. I'm looking forward to celebrating Bee's b-day this weekend and I'm looking forward to my nap on Sunday. That's right, I plan my naps. You should all try it. In fact, your goal for this weekend is to plan a nap at some point in time. (Except for Eric and Chris who should be partying like rock stars in Vegas with Celine. You can sleep on the plane =)) Peace out homies.

Anniversary weekend

So this weekend was our 1 year wedding anniversary. It seems strange that we've been married for a year already as time has passed by so quickly.

We were driving in the car the other day and I was talking about work with Tim and how this week is going to be rough because I am running the practice for 4 days. Tim then paused and said can I believe where I am right now? It seems like such a long time ago that I was so depressed about my life and crying everyday not knowing what was going to happen to me. Now, I have an awesome stable job and couldn't be happier. Interesting how life changes so quickly.

Anyway, Tim and I stayed at Santana Row at Hotel Valencia last night. We checked in to a gorgeous room and then proceeded to watch the free HBO like the dorks that we are. After that, we went to the Vintage Wine Bar and sat outside and had some wine and a meat and cheese platter. I would have never thought that Tim would have ever been happy to sit out at Santana Row with all the other posers and ponces and metrosexuals, but he was kind enough to partake last night. We then decided to go see Clerks II at CineArts. Now I enjoy the Kevin Smith very muchly, however, there were some moments in this film (discussions of "ass to mouth" sexuality and a scene with "inter-species erotica") that I could have done without. However, it was mostly just good fun and fitting as Tim and I love Jay and Silent Bob.

After the movie, we went to the Left Bank for dinner. It was very nice although we ate way too much food and had a ton of drinks. It was fun though and I kept on reminding myself that it was money well spent due to the significance of the event. Also, the gift for the first anniversary is paper, which money is made out, of so i think that that somehow works out ok.

In the end we had a wonderful anniversary. Tim got me a totally rockin stereo for my car that runs my iPod from the glove compartment. I got Tim and new Sharks jersey that he's been wanting. Overall, I think that it was a great weekend. Today after checkout we came home and watched Red Eye and now we're going to watch the Island.

Oh yeah, I also booked us a trip to Vegas with my parents in October to go see Elton John at Caesar's. We've been trying to do this for over a year so i finally just said I'm doing it, we'ere going. Anyway, I got a super sweet deal on Expedia for two nights at Paris and flight for 411 per person. Expedia is my friend. We are flying to Canada for Kelley's wedding with Expedia. I rented a car with them as well. Love the discount travel.

As a side note, my last post was about how we were going to watch Lost. Unfortunately, ABC has decided to put on some singing, American idol wannabe show and not show Lost re-runs anymore. I thought Tim was going to break the TV he had such a fit. He has turned into one of you all...you know who you are =)

Anyway, that's all for now. I must try to convince Tim to stop killing the Nazi's that he's been working on all day (XBOX 360). Wish me luck!

America's got talent

Wednesday night has fast become talent competition night on television. Every station has some kind of talent show...dancing, rockstaring, talenting etc. Of course Tim and I just watch all this stuff to waste time until Lost starts (since Tim has become a convert). Once cannot miss the high def broadcast of Lost. (Insert sarcasm here).

Incidentally, we watched Closer the other night. Talk about an f-ed up movie. Holy crap. How that film was every a play...I don't know. Anyway, I love Clive Owen so I could enjoy his performance, but I wouldn't recommend the movie if you are looking for a light evening of entertainment.

Tim and I just finished dinner and I think I will make some cookies tonight. I feel like baking a bit..=)

movie night

Tim and I just watched the Transporter 2. It's a pretty good action adventure movie and not really that violent. Plus, Jason Statham is pretty cute, I must say. Now we are moving on to Closer. It is rated R for graphic sexuality and such. Hmm...better than graphic violence, I say.

We had dinner with my parents at the Macaroni Grill tonight. They have some good grub there. I highly recommend it. =)

I had to go to work today for about 5 hours. It was totally worth it though as we got a lot of work done. I have several insurance/billing projects to do this week, but I think it will make this week go by quickly. Nothing better than a quickly passing week.

In addition, I have to give a birthday shout out to Sarah. Happy Birthday, and many more...on channel 4...and scooby doo....on channel 2 and so on and so forth.

Wedding etc.

So here are the new pictures from Cheri's wedding.
I apologize for my laxity with posting, but I vow to be better in the future. =)

Chris and Eric looking fab as always!

This is a dangerous foursome....=)

Anyway, the wedding was really beautiful and we had a super time. The hotel we stayed at was really nice and I especially enjoyed it as the chair in our room was Burberry. I tried to steal it but I think they would have noticed and I can't really afford a 3,000 dollar chair right now...so best that Tim stopped me from hauling it down to my car.

Yesterday I went to see The Devil Wears Prada with my girls (Sar and B). It was cute but very different from the book. That is always to be expected though, as books are ALWAYS better than the movies. After the film, we took a stroll around the Great Mall. We all wound up purchasing some good stuff. I'm especially happy as I got two new pairs of jeans. Let me just say that shopping for pants is pretty much torture for me. If I wind up going to hell, my punishment will be shopping for pants. In this day and age, everything is low rise. However, they don't take into account that sometimes, those of us with a short torso need a higher rise. My waist is techinically almost up by my boobs. =) Ha Ha. Anyway, I got two new pairs of Calvin Klein jeans that are very comfy and fit well. I will have to stretch them out a bit though, as one always does when one buys new pants. Last night I put them on and did the usual squat to the floor, leg stretches and rolling around on the bed that I'm sure most of you girls out there can relate to. However, I think that the more I wear them, the looser they will be. Did you know that you are not supossed to wash denim unless there is an actual spill on them? It keeps them comfy for much longer. Of course you must wash them if you are stinky, but girls usually are not.

The world cup final is almost over. It's in the 68th minute. I'm not really rooting for either side as England was sent home by Portugal (Grr...Chris). We have to hate the frogs as that is what the English do, however, so many of them play for clubs in England and Zidane is so old that I wish he could retire with a championship. On the other hand, Italy is a good club and I'm sure Kelley and Alex are rooting for them with all their heart =)

So, I'm going to finish my giant coffee I got from Krispy Kreme this morning. Their coffee is not that bad and is about 3 times as big as Starbucks. It's a vat really...but what the hell, it's Sunday. Plus, I'm wearing my exercise clothes that I don't exercise in..so I may as well take it to the max and drink coffee and doughnuts to top off the day of non-excercise. So, if any of you are out there wearing your exercise clothes that you don't exercise in, go get yourself a vat of coffee, a doughnut and sit on the couch. Believe me, you'll love it. =)

i have bangs

yes, it's true. I cut my hair again today. It's just below my shoulders but now I have sexy, side-swoopy bangs. Yummy. I think this is the best haircut I have ever gotten.
Ok, so what the hell was up with Clay Aiken's hair on the Americal Idol finale. He looks even more gay now.....someone should tell Clay that the way to stop gay rumors is not look more gay. It's true.
Today, tomorrow and Friday I am running my office alone. Today was good..I saw about 40 people or so and I am only slightly tired. I'm going to hop into the bath soon and read my new allure mag. I'll take some tea and a smidgen of choco to snack on. Nothing better than that!
On a sad note, my grandmother is not doing well in England and my mum is going on Friday. It shouldn't be too long now before she passes which would be a good thing as she seems to be in a bit of pain now. =( Anyway, keep my fam in your thoughts right now.

I return and it's winter again

I returned from sunny Dallas yesterday to winter in California. It actually rained today! Tim and I went to see the DaVinci code this afternoon and when we came out it was raining.
So I enjoyed the DaVinci code. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. It was just a bit of fun and adventure. They did change it some from the book which I think made it less dramatic, however, it was pretty true to the story. I hate Tom Hanks' long hair though. He looks like a greasy old man. Audrey Tatou is super cute though, and Paul Bettany is awesome as Silas. I give it 3.5/5.
I have to unpack my bags and organize myself for tomorrow. That's always the crappy part about traveling. Unpacking sucks. =)

Dallas Baby!

So I've completed my first long day here in Dallas for my Chiropractic conference. It was a good day. Very informative and lots of young people here which is good. It's more fun with a young crowd. I'm staying at the Adams Mark hotel. It's massive. I'm living on room service which I LOVE in hotels. I am a room service addict. I've had 2 cheeseburgers and now a Cobb salad. (as separate meals) I'm also having a TaB energy drink....yum. Life doesn't get much better than that.
Only two more days til I come home. Yay.

.

So we lost. Twice. Boo. On the plus side, we went to Stanley's sports bar with my parents at Logitech Ice rink and watched the game there. I got bit on the head by Sharkie the mascot so I'll post that pic when I upload everything like I have been promising to do.
I'm going into the office for a few hours today to do some cleaning and organizing. I just can't stand it anymore and I hate that our patients can see so much of the front desk. yuck. Watch out dirt....here comes Dr. Lisa! =)
We are going to Cheri's for dinner tonight so that should be fun to see the fab gang. I'm going to try to stop by Bee's today before I go over to Cheri's to marvel at her new chairs and just hang out for a bit like urban chic girls like us do.
Tomorrow night we are going to the Shark's game at the Tank. Good luck to us. I will have a bleeding ulcer before this series is through. Grrrrr.

Anxiety times 10

In another 5 minutes, we will know who has won the overtime between San Jose and Edmonton. I really hate these tight games. It makes me have serious anxiety. My poor tired body can't take it. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Work is going really well. I've started adjusting more and more and I'm enjoying it. I'm going to Dallas next week for a seminar so that should be fun. I'm going to make use of the pool I'm sure, and work on my tan for Robin's wedding during the down time.

Only 3 more minutes to go. i can't take this any more.

WE WIN!

Yes, in case you haven't heard, the Sharks won over the Edmonton Oilers tonight. It was an amazing game. The tank was rocking and we have new playoff towels to add to our collection. So much fun. I will put up some pictures tomorow when I upload everything to my computer. We're going to the game tomorrow night as well, so I'm sure there will be more pictures then.

This weekend was a little bit of a bust for me. I had to go to a seminar which was okay. I learned some new cool stuff but it was a little too far out for me. However it's always important to try to be as open minded as possible and just take whatever you can from situations like that.

It's now 10pm and once the laundry comes out of the dryer, I will be going to sleep. I managed to get all my work comp cases done tonight so I can have a bit of a sleep in in the AM. Yes, 7:30 perhaps...=)

Here comes the sun..

So the weather has finally turned around and we are now blessed with our sweet California weather. Today was so beautiful. They opened a new Starbucks right by our apartment so Tim and I went for a walk down there this morning to get our exercise. Then, I went to Cheri's bridal shower. It was beautiful and the food was really great. It's so exciting to see someone else planning a wedding. It makes me want to get married again! =)
We sat outside to eat and while I put on sunscreen, I missed a few parts on the arms so I'm a little patchy. I think that tomorrow I should be able to put on the old bikini and lay outside. I have to start tanning now for Robin's wedding in September. Although, I have to be careful to avoid strap tan lines because our dresses have little spaghetti straps so....at least I have my bra get up from my wedding that I can wear. We all know how much support the cans need. =) Plus, since I started working I've lost 6 pounds so I feel even better with the cute Target bathing suits I have.
Tomorrow Bee and I are going to see David Sedaris. I'm so excited to see him. I love his work and I'm looking forward to seeing him in person. If you've never heard of him, check out his books on amazon.
And finally, Tim and I watched Capote today. All that's left now is Good Night and Good Luck and Munich in my Oscar viewing. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch Munich though. It doesn't really seem like my kind of film. Capote was really good though. Philip Seymour Hoffman totally deserved to win the Oscar. He was fantastic. This was a better movie than Crash and Brokeback but I can see why Crash won. (B- there were only a few really violent parts that i couldn't watch and I'll tell you when they are if you want to put it in your cue) Anyway, Capote is winning in my personal Oscar race right now.
Time to put after sun lotion on my patchy arms before bed. Peace out.

Disney....as promised

Don't you love Tim in the Nemo hat? People actually buy this stuff and wear it! I love it. Of course you know they take it off as soon as they leave Anaheim. Note the playoff beard. Not the I am a big fan of it, but the Sharks are in the playoffs and we are going on Thursday to the game so I understand.

This trip I decided that I wanted lots of pictures of my family and I as we usually take lots of scenery pics but not a lot of people pics. Tim and my Dad were on photo duty and they did a super job. This is my new smile I'm practing. Note how I'm not showing too much teeth...too much teeth equals Lisa with squinty eyes...yuck.

My dad looks surprised in this picture..but this was just an attempt to get him to smile as he suffers from the Steve Brogden syndrome of not smiling in pictures. You just have to surprise them. That seems to be the key.

Here is Tim and I on California Screamin, about to be shot out of this starting gate like a cannon. I must say, this ride I can only go on once before my churros/coke/other sugary snaks/ mickey shaped ice cream etc starts to rise. Go figure =)

So in the end it was a great trip. We stayed at the Paradise Pier hotel which was really nice and a fun change from the Park Inn that we usually stay in. It's been a long time since I actually stayed at the Disneyland Resort as they call it. The last time was when I was little and Robin got sick when we jumped on the beds and Brian shot little nerf golf balls onto the roof of the building below us. Good times, of course.

It's always a bummer coming home as it's hard to come down from the sugar/Disney high that I get. Actually, we really didnt' do that bad with our eating this time and didn't gorge ourselves on too much crap. The first night I was worried because they cancelled the fireworks due to high winds. So we went to see Fantasmic, this super cool water show where they back project film clips onto a big sheet spray of water and then of course there is fire and fireworks which I always enjoy. On Saturday night, they delayed the fireworks for a bit but then they went on with the show. It was cool because they had a set of fireworks for every Disney ride, including a set for the Electrical Parade which now runs in California Adventure. So, I was happy in the end as I got to see my fireworks and celebrate the 50th anniversary before it ends in 2 weeks. All in all I think the trip was probably the best I've ever had. At least I have our Christmas trip to look forward to! Viva Disney!
