Here comes the sun..

So the weather has finally turned around and we are now blessed with our sweet California weather. Today was so beautiful. They opened a new Starbucks right by our apartment so Tim and I went for a walk down there this morning to get our exercise. Then, I went to Cheri's bridal shower. It was beautiful and the food was really great. It's so exciting to see someone else planning a wedding. It makes me want to get married again! =)
We sat outside to eat and while I put on sunscreen, I missed a few parts on the arms so I'm a little patchy. I think that tomorrow I should be able to put on the old bikini and lay outside. I have to start tanning now for Robin's wedding in September. Although, I have to be careful to avoid strap tan lines because our dresses have little spaghetti straps so....at least I have my bra get up from my wedding that I can wear. We all know how much support the cans need. =) Plus, since I started working I've lost 6 pounds so I feel even better with the cute Target bathing suits I have.
Tomorrow Bee and I are going to see David Sedaris. I'm so excited to see him. I love his work and I'm looking forward to seeing him in person. If you've never heard of him, check out his books on amazon.
And finally, Tim and I watched Capote today. All that's left now is Good Night and Good Luck and Munich in my Oscar viewing. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch Munich though. It doesn't really seem like my kind of film. Capote was really good though. Philip Seymour Hoffman totally deserved to win the Oscar. He was fantastic. This was a better movie than Crash and Brokeback but I can see why Crash won. (B- there were only a few really violent parts that i couldn't watch and I'll tell you when they are if you want to put it in your cue) Anyway, Capote is winning in my personal Oscar race right now.
Time to put after sun lotion on my patchy arms before bed. Peace out.

Disney....as promised

Don't you love Tim in the Nemo hat? People actually buy this stuff and wear it! I love it. Of course you know they take it off as soon as they leave Anaheim. Note the playoff beard. Not the I am a big fan of it, but the Sharks are in the playoffs and we are going on Thursday to the game so I understand.

This trip I decided that I wanted lots of pictures of my family and I as we usually take lots of scenery pics but not a lot of people pics. Tim and my Dad were on photo duty and they did a super job. This is my new smile I'm practing. Note how I'm not showing too much teeth...too much teeth equals Lisa with squinty eyes...yuck.

My dad looks surprised in this picture..but this was just an attempt to get him to smile as he suffers from the Steve Brogden syndrome of not smiling in pictures. You just have to surprise them. That seems to be the key.

Here is Tim and I on California Screamin, about to be shot out of this starting gate like a cannon. I must say, this ride I can only go on once before my churros/coke/other sugary snaks/ mickey shaped ice cream etc starts to rise. Go figure =)

So in the end it was a great trip. We stayed at the Paradise Pier hotel which was really nice and a fun change from the Park Inn that we usually stay in. It's been a long time since I actually stayed at the Disneyland Resort as they call it. The last time was when I was little and Robin got sick when we jumped on the beds and Brian shot little nerf golf balls onto the roof of the building below us. Good times, of course.

It's always a bummer coming home as it's hard to come down from the sugar/Disney high that I get. Actually, we really didnt' do that bad with our eating this time and didn't gorge ourselves on too much crap. The first night I was worried because they cancelled the fireworks due to high winds. So we went to see Fantasmic, this super cool water show where they back project film clips onto a big sheet spray of water and then of course there is fire and fireworks which I always enjoy. On Saturday night, they delayed the fireworks for a bit but then they went on with the show. It was cool because they had a set of fireworks for every Disney ride, including a set for the Electrical Parade which now runs in California Adventure. So, I was happy in the end as I got to see my fireworks and celebrate the 50th anniversary before it ends in 2 weeks. All in all I think the trip was probably the best I've ever had. At least I have our Christmas trip to look forward to! Viva Disney!

Broke...back

Ok boys and girls. I have finally seen Brokeback Mountain. Now I have seen 3 of the Oscar nominated movies...hopefully Capote will soon follow once I return Brokeback to Netflix. So...I give it 2.5 out of 5. Maybe because I didn't see it right when it first was around, but it really wasn't all that great. I think Jake Gynlehallisgolooly did a good job, but I didn't love Heath Ledger..not that hot. Oh well. At least I've finally seen it. I can check it off my list. Of course, I love that it has inspired my new favorite phrase, hense the title of this post. Broke...back!

Tune in later for pics and discussion of Disneyland...I promise.

House of Mouse

Hey all! It's time for a new post. I have peeps in the great white north who are relying on me! =) So, tonight I'll be posting the pics from Disney this weekend and giving an update on everything. Bear with me as I'm slow on the posting...

So tired

Friday is finally here and I'm truly exhausted. I lost all my sleeping/napping time last weekend due to my continuing ed seminar. Therefore, I didn't get a chance to really re-charge the batteries. Then, this week was crazy. We saw 50 people today between 7:30 and 12:00. Wave after wave of people came into the office. I think the bad weather makes people feel worse so they are looking for a little healing time with us. It's great though, to see how many people we are helping. It's amazing to see someone come in barely able to walk and leave in much better shape. I finally am realizing why I got into Chiropractic. It was always the standard answer in school.."because I want to help people and make them feel better". But I think that we had no idea what was in store for us in the future. My experiences now are so real. These are real people who's lives are devastated by pain, and our office is their only refuge. Now that may sound over-dramatic, and I would have agreed with that in school. I just thought it would be cool to be a doctor and get to treat people. But now that I am actually in a successful practice, I am seeing how awesome things can be. It really is a great feeling at the end of the day to be able to say that today, I did something that made a difference in someone's life.

Moving on, I was very productive tonight and paid a lot of bills online and filed away all my old bills that have been sitting in a pile in my cupboard. I did all this while Tim and I watched the Lizzie McGuire movie. Yes, yes...ha ha. However, I do enjoy the Disney as you all know, and it was a cute movie. Plus, it was that or Herbie: Fully Loaded and I didn't think that I could handle and Hohan this evening.

Well, I think it's time for bed. Hopefully, I'll be able to sleep in a bit in the morning (that's only in tha mornin!). Time to work off that sleep debt. Here we go...

Add this to the addiction list

Tab Energy
So this drink can be added to my addiction list. I have to say that I love the taste....it's truly addictive and maybe outrageous...truly, truly, truly outrageous...and sidebar...where is Rainbow Brite? She could totally make a comeback right now. All things old are new again. New GI Joe, new Ninja Turtles. I'm sure Hasbro or whoever could pimp her out for the new millenium. Man, I loved her.

On another note, my life is so busy right now. The practice I work in is thriving and we are seeing tons of people. Then, I come home at night and work on my work comp job until bedtime. I just keep reminding myself that it's great to have the extra money so that I can do fun things and be spontaneous...like deciding to go to Sundance with Bee next year. Maybe we'll try on some more Jimmy Choos in the swag rooms while we stalk Matthew Perry. Yum. Time for another Tab Energy.
